Organizations
We’re not big on organizations, preferring to keep our numbers smaller and our contacts more intimate, but there are some gatherings of folk that need to be honored with attendance and here are our favorites.
- The Hardy Plant Society of Oregon — Portland, Oregon
The Hardy Plant Society is probably most well known for the enormous plant sales held each spring and fall at the Hillsboro Fair Grounds. Wonderful as the plant sales are, don’t miss the Open Gardens, Speakers, Workshops and Study Groups. This is an organization with a huge GOLD STAR.
- Portland Open Studios
Annually during the second and third weekends of October, this group of artists open their studios for the common man. Don’t miss the opportunity to see the spaces they work in, and lots of art. An amazing GIFT FOR YOUR HEART. Note that the first weekend the participating studios on the east side of town open, with the west side being the following weekend.
- LOCAL 14 – Portland, Oregon
Local 14 Art Show & Sale was started in 1968 with a group of 14 friends in the Portland suburb of Lake Oswego. (This explains the name, Lake Oswego Crafts & Art League). The show is now a huge four-day event with the mission "To support and encourage professional and emerging women artists." This group provides female artists with exposure to the community through the show, and awards scholarships to outstanding women art students.
